ICON OF SAINT FRANCIS-2022

Just finished the Icon for a family of a friend in Farmington, NM. Briscoe, a gentlle creature, is next to Saint Francis
18 inches X 24 inches, egg tempura and 24 kt. Italian gold. Water gilding is not a technique that NM high desert can happily support. Many troubles in this process. However, like a miracle, I finished the Icon.

I just finished the Icon. This is an experiment of decorating the board in a different way. It looks good to me! One of the friends of the monastery offered a beautiful handcrafted wooden board. I gessoed and write the image on.

This is the first time I am doing the oil gilding. I want to experiment the technique. It is less painstaking, less risk-taking, but water still is my preference.
